Do you have to collimate a Maksutov Cassegrain telescope?Ĭollimation is the process of aligning the optics of a telescope with its mechanical axis. Despite the fact that a well constructed Mak-Cass may be a superb telescope, they are primarily meant for ocular usage or planetary imaging, rather than for deep-sky photography. Large Maksutov-Cassegrains are rather unusual, despite the fact that they are reasonably frequent in small sizes.
